FAQs & Policies
General Questions
Are your courses accredited?
TTI is an EMDRIA, ACE, APA and NBCC-approved continuing education provider. Not all courses offer CEs for each of these boards. Approved CEs are clearly noted on each course page.
If a course is not EMDR focused there are no EMDRIA CEs available.
Are your courses available live or on-demand?
We are a virtual training company offering synchronous (live-interactive) and asynchronous (pre-recorded & on-demand) courses. Each training clearly identifies the training format it is offered in. Check the information at registration, or the landing page of the training you’re interested in for more information. It will vary.
For example, EMDR Basic Training is a live, synchronous course and must be attended live in real-time. However, all of our Advanced Trainings and special workshops can be attended live or on demand following the live event.
Do I need to be in the US to attend training?
Short answer - NOPE! But....
You can sign up for courses with TTI even if you’re not based in the United States.
However, for EMDR training be sure to check if your country or geographic area has an EMDR governing body. There is EMDR Australia, EMDR UK, EMDR Europe and EMDR Asia. Check those sights as appropriate for information about training in your area.
Do you offer payment plans?
At checkout you will see several payment options.
- Card
- Klarna
- Afterpay
- Google Pay
- Apple Pay
If you decide to pick a payment plan with a 3rd party, all of those details will be provided to upon selecting that option. Note: your private financial information that may be requested by a 3rd party vendor (ex: Klarna) is not visible to TTI.
Do you offer reduced rates or scholarships?
We recognize that systemic racism has created many social barriers for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), including a lack of equity in education and certification. In an effort to make a difference among mental health professionals and social service providers, we offer annual EMDR scholarships BIPOC mental health professionals in the US.
Click here to learn more about our BIPOC Scholarship Fund or apply.
We also occasionally offer promotional codes in our monthly mailers and on social media. Be sure to subscribe to our mailing list and follow us on social.
Can I pay by check?
No
Basic Training
Who is eligible to take EMDR Basic Training?
Mental health professionals who are license-eligible may attend EMDR Basic Training. Interns and graduate students may attend, but they must be in the clinical portion of their graduate program training. (You must be enrolled in a qualifying program, but you do not need to be licensed to attend training.) For further reference, please review EMDRIA’s Eligibility Requirements.
Is your EMDR Basic Training EMDRIA approved?
TTI is an EMDRIA approved provider. We are also an approved EMDR Basic Training provider with ASWB, APA and NBCC.
How long does it take to complete EMDR Basic Training?
EMDR Basic Training takes about 6 months to complete from start to finish. EMDRIA requires that you complete all portions of training within 1 year of starting.
If I complete Basic Training am I EMDR Certified?
Short answer: no, not yet.
After Basic Training, you will be an EMDR clinician. However, certification is a level of advanced training that you can pursue after you complete Basic Training. You can think of Basic Training like a bachelor’s degree in EMDR, and Certification like a master’s degree. You have to get your bachelor’s degree first before you can pursue your master’s degree.
After completing EMDR Basic Training with TTI, you can continue with your training to get EMDR Certified. Learn more about the requirements of Certification and our EMDR Certification program here.
Can I practice EMDR after Basic Training?
Yes! You can start practicing with clients after your first training intensive.
How do consultation hours in Basic Training work?
Your consultation groups will be selected at Part 1 training. You will be given multiple options to choose from, which will vary by day of the week, time and consultant. To give you time for scheduling and planning, your consultation groups will begin at least three weeks after your Part 1 training.
I learned some EMDR, but it has been a while. What is best for me?
Basic Training is the first stop in becoming qualified to practice EMDR. If it’s been some time since you completed Basic Training, take our Refresher Course to polish up your skills and get back in the game! We also recommend getting connected for consultation.
If you never finished EMDR Basic Training then that is your first step!
I have already taken EMDR Basic Training Part 1 elsewhere. Can I take Part 2 with you?
Transferring to a different program for Part 2 of Basic Training can be tricky. We need to ensure the program you attended for Part 1 meets our standards. If you’re interested in completing your Part 2 training with us, please email us. We’ll need to know when you completed Part 1, as well as who you completed it with to see if it is a good fit!
Certification
I took EMDR Basic Training but it has been awhile since I used in practice. What is best for me?
When it comes to Certification, many clinicians start the process feeling rusty and out of practice. Certification will get you back in the swing of things and practicing at an expert level.
Our EMDR Certification packages also include our EMDR Refresher Course which will help you refresh your memory and polish up your skills!
What is EMDR Certification?
EMDR Certification is an advanced level of training and skill as an EMDR therapist. It is a standard that’s overseen by EMDRIA. EMDR Certification will teach you to be an advanced, expert level EMDR therapist. It requires additional training beyond that which you complete in EMDR Basic Training.
What does EMDR Certification require?
As outlined by EMDRIA, EMDR Certification requires 20 additional hours of consultation beyond the 10 you complete for Basic Training. It also requires that you practice with a certain number of certain number of clients and that you have additional CEs in advanced EMDR training.
Here’s a summary of the EMDR Certification requirements:
- 10 hours of individual consultation
10 hours of group consultation
12 hours of advanced training in EMDR (courses must be EMDRIA approved)
At least 50 hours of EMDR practice with at least 25 clients
3 letters of recommendation
EMDRIA also states that you must be licensed when you submit your application for certification. While you don’t have to be licensed when you start working on these requirements, you do need your license for your application to be approved.
You can review all of EMDRIAs requirements here.
What are the benefits of getting EMDR Certified?
There are a lot of benefits and reasons to get EMDR Certified.
Here are some of the most common benefits that clinicians report:
- Learn advanced skills to work with greater clinical complexity and specialty clients.
- Align with a highly researched, evidence-based practice.
- Attract more clients interested in EMDR.
- Become an expert in EMDR.
- Find confidence as an EMDR therapist.
- Hone your EMDR niche.
- Become an EMDR specialist with the techniques or populations you specialize in! (ex: addictions, dissociation, kids, IFS, somatic therapy)
- Learn the skills to help your clients heal.
- Get an advanced credential for less time and money compared to other advanced programs (IFS, Somatic Experiencing, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy). While these programs are phenomenal, they take a whole lot of time and money. They also aren’t as well supported in scientific research as EMDR. EMDR Certification makes you an expert in an evidence-based therapy in less time and for less money.
What are the benefits of pursuing certification with TTI?
Beyond the benefits described above, Kase & CO has a few unique things to offer you.
- We’re the only training company that offers the robust certification program that we have. Our program includes a resource hub of worksheets and downloads, individual and group consultation, advanced courses, and connection with our certification community.

- Organization! We believe that an organized process is key to your success. No more piecing things together haphazardly! Our certification program is a well-oiled machine. We reduce the headaches and confusing processes that so many training programs often create.
- Learn from the best. Kase & CO is an internationally recognized training organization. We are experts in EMDR therapy AND experts in training clinicians in our shame-free environments.

Our faculty members play a critical role in ensuring that facilities are accessible and that reasonable accommodations are made available for those who require them. The Trainers are responsible for ensuring that facilities and reasonable accommodations are accessible to those with disabilities.

This allows us to be proactive in understanding your needs and ensures that we have the time to make any necessary adjustments. Open communication is essential, and we are committed to collaborating with you to create an accessible and comfortable learning experience.

EMDR Basic Training Attendance Policy
Welcome to EMDR Basic Training!
We’re excited to have you join us on this transformative journey. EMDR Basic Training is a dynamic, interactive experience that equips you with the skills to make a lasting impact on your clients’ lives. To ensure the best experience for you and your peers, we have a few important policies to keep our learning environment productive and supportive.
We are an EMDRIA-approved training provider and follow EMDRIA's rules and regulations.
Attendance Expectations
Your full presence and participation are key to your success and the success of your peers. Here’s how you can get the most out of your training:
- Be Present for All Training Hours:
- EMDRIA requires you to complete 20 hours of lecture, 20 hours of practicum, and 10 hours of consultation in real-time.
- Arrive on time and stay until the end of each session. If life happens and you need to arrive late or leave early, let us know in advance, and we’ll work with you (additional fees may apply).
- Keep Your Camera On:
- We love seeing your smiling face! Keeping your camera on helps us stay connected and meet attendance requirements. This is also an EMDRIA requirement.
- Set Up a Supportive Space:
- Treat your training environment like a counseling session—quiet, private, and free of distractions. Public spaces or attending while driving just won’t work.
- Bring Your Best Self:
- Come ready to focus, learn, and engage. If you’re navigating significant serious medical or mental health challenges, we recommend rescheduling your training until you’re in a better place.
- Be a Team Player:
- Create a safe, respectful space for your peers to learn and grow. We believe mistakes are part of the learning process—embrace them, and help your peers feel supported in doing the same. This is our shame free approach to learning.
- Request Accommodations Early:
- We’re happy to support your needs! Please send any accommodation requests at least one week before training so we can make your experience as seamless as possible.
What If You Miss Some Time?
We understand that life can be unpredictable. While we encourage you to attend all sessions with your cohort, we offer options to help you make up missed time when needed. If you require making up more time than what is outlined below, you will need to re-enroll in a new cohort.
- Practicum Makeup:
- You can make up to 4 hours of missed practicum for $80/hour. Our practicum makeup groups are offered monthly.
- Lecture Makeup:
- You can make up to 4 hours of lecture for $80/hour, except for Day 2 of Part 1 (this day is essential, so missing it requires withdrawal and re-enrollment).
- Consultation Makeup:
- We have monthly consultation makeup groups if you miss consultation, for $80/group. If you miss more than 10 minutes of a group consultation group you will not be allowed to join and you will need to attend a makeup group. You can also schedule a makeup group in advance if you know you will be out.
We’ll do our best to align makeup sessions with the content you missed to keep your learning experience smooth and cohesive.
What If You Need to Withdraw or Reschedule?
Sometimes, unexpected things happen. If you need to withdraw or reschedule:
- More than 3 weeks before training: $100 fee.
- Less than 3 weeks before training: $500 fee.
- After training begins: Withdrawals are only available in emergencies and are not refundable.
If an emergency arises, such as a severe illness or family crisis, please reach out to us right away. We’ll work with you to find the best path forward.
If We Need to Cancel Training
If TTI needs to cancel a training, you’ll have the option to join a future cohort at no extra cost or receive a full refund.
We're Here for You
We’re committed to making this training a positive, supportive experience. If you have questions or need assistance, our team is here to help. Thank you for being part of this incredible community—we’re excited to support you on your journey to becoming EMDR trained!
EMDR Certification Attendance Policy
Attendance expectations:
It is expected that trainees attend consultation with their full presence and attention. Please attend consultation in a quiet, confidential space, just as you would a counseling session. Please do not attend consultation while driving or in a public space.
Consultation will be scheduled by mutual agreement between you and your consultant. The location of consultation will be via Zoom. Fees will be paid in accordance with your payment plan as agreed to upon registration.
A 48-hour notice of cancellation is required for both individual and group consultations (though more notice is preferred). If a scheduled consultation is canceled less than 48 hours in advance or if you do not show for a scheduled consultation, you are responsible for paying a late cancellation fee of $120 for individual consultation and $50 for group consultation. This charge will be billed by and paid to Kase & CO through an invoice that will be emailed to you.
We know life happens. Emergencies and confirmed medical situations should be discussed with your consultant to help determine exceptions and the right path forward.
Can I leave consultation early, arrive late, or step out to take care of a chore?
Unfortunately, no. Missing any more than 10 minutes will impact your learning. Please plan to be present for all portions of consultation. Arriving late, leaving early, or missing portions of consultation will negatively impact your learning process along with your colleagues. If you are more than 10 minutes late to consultation group, your consultant may not allow you to attend.
Refunds & Withdrawals
Should you decide to withdraw after payment(s) have been made, please notify us in writing to [email protected]. Refund amount will be determined based on total amount paid minus hours completed and advanced CEs used.
How refund amounts are determined:
- Total amount of payments made will be calculated.
- Amounts deducted from refund:
- $100 administrative fee
- Individual Consultation hours at $160/hr rate
- Group Consultation hours at $75/hr rate
- All Access registrations, the 12 CE for Advanced Trainings will be removed from your account. If you have already used some CEs, the amount used will be deducted at $20/CE used.
To determine if any remaining refund is due, we will then identify the number of consultation hours our team has provided to date. The hours spent will be multiplied by an hourly rate of $160 per individual hour and $75 per group hour. The team will calculate any prepaid CEs used and multiply them by $20/CE. Once those numbers are calculated we will deduct the latter to see if any refund is due back to the consultee.
If total hours provided and number of CEs spent is higher than the amount paid to date, consultee will be responsible for paying the remaining balance via auto-debit before withdrawal can be processed.
Grievance Policy
Trauma Therapist Institute (TTI) is fully committed to conducting all activities with strict conformance to the American Psychological Association’s Ethical Principles of Psychologists. TTI will comply with all legal and ethical responsibilities to be non-discriminatory in promotional activities, program content, and in the treatment of program participants. The monitoring and assessment of compliance with these standards will be the responsibility of the Continuing Education Coordinator in consultation with the members of the continuing education committee.
Grievances will be reviewed by the Continuing Education Coordinator, members of the continuing education committee, and management team as appropriate.
While TTI goes to great lengths to assure fair treatment for all participants and attempts to anticipate problems, there will be occasional issues that come to the attention of TTI staff which require intervention and/or action on the part of TTI. This procedural description serves as a guideline for handling such grievances.
When a participant, either orally or in written format, files a grievance and expects action on the complaint, the following actions will be taken.
- The grievance will be reviewed by the Continuing Education Coordinator and Program Manager within 5 business days.
- If the grievance concerns a speaker, the content presented by the speaker, or the style of presentation, the individual filing the grievance will be asked to put his/her comments in written format. The Program Manager will then pass on the comments to the speaker, assuring the confidentiality of the grieved individual.
- If the grievance concerns a workshop offering, its content, level of presentation, or the facilities in which the workshop was offered, the Operations Manager will mediate and will be the final arbitrator. If the participant requests action, the Program Manager will:
- attempt to move the participant to another workshop or
- provide a credit for a subsequent year’s workshop or
- provide a partial or full refund of the workshop fee.
Actions 3b and 3c will require a written note, documenting the grievance, for record-keeping purposes. The note need not be signed by the grieved individual.
If the grievance concerns TTI CE program, in a specific regard, the Program Manager will attempt to arbitrate.
All grievances will be reviewed and responded to within 5 business days.
